Two central HCMC streets turn one-way from Oct 10 for Metro Line 2 works
Sections of Cach Mang Thang Tam and Nguyen Thi Minh Khai streets become one-way on October 10 to make room for underground metro station construction.

- One-way rules start October 10 on Cach Mang Thang Tam and Nguyen Thi Minh Khai
- Detours run via Truong Dinh, Vo Van Tan and Nguyen Dinh Chieu
- At least 7.5 m of roadway stays open at work sites
Ho Chi Minh City will change traffic flow on two central streets from October 10 so that work on Metro Line 2 can move ahead.
What changes
- Cach Mang Thang Tam Street: a 350-metre section between Nguyen Du and Nguyen Thi Minh Khai will carry traffic in one direction only, from Nguyen Du toward Nguyen Thi Minh Khai.
- Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street: a 1.5-kilometre stretch will be one-way from Cao Thang toward Huyen Tran Cong Chua.
For trips in the opposite direction, the city has designated alternative routes along nearby streets, including Truong Dinh, Vo Van Tan and Nguyen Dinh Chieu. Suong Nguyet Anh and Bui Thi Xuan streets, close to Tao Dan Station, will allow two-way travel to ease pressure on the surrounding network.
Why it is happening
The restrictions support construction of five underground stations: Pham Van Bach, Le Thi Rieng, Hoa Hung, Pham Van Hai and Ba Queo. The Ben Thanh-Tham Luong section runs nearly 11.3 kilometres, has a total investment of more than VND55 trillion, and is due to be completed in 2030. Authorities say at least 7.5 metres of roadway will stay open to vehicles around the work zones.
What it means for residents
The affected streets are in the city centre rather than in Thao Dien or Thu Duc, but anyone who crosses central districts by car, taxi or ride-hailing may find the usual route unavailable in one direction after October 10. Checking the navigation app for updated routing before travelling, and allowing extra time near the construction zones, is a sensible precaution.
